Meet the KRC Tennis Pros

Jared Carstenn, Director of Tennis, USPTA certified

Picture
Jared Carstenn cut his teeth on tennis courts carved out of the swamps of North Central Florida. He first got involved in the tennis industry as a teenager at the Fort King Tennis Center in Ocala, Florida. After competing in the Florida High School State Tennis Championship Tournament as a senior at Vanguard High School, he moved to Hawaii for college. He attended Hawaii Pacific University and the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he studied English and Political Science.

Jared has been teaching tennis at the Kailua Racquet Club for over a decade. He has made a mark in the Hawaii tennis community by taking every opportunity to get involved in tournaments, leagues, and functions at the Kailua Racquet Club and around the islands.  Jared is always looking to learn more about the game to be a better teacher for the students at KRC.

You'll usually find Jared at the club running adult clinics, private lessons, junior classes, team matches, and just being an all-around member of the KRC family!

He is known around the state as the "On Court Correspondent" for the club's Men's, Women's, and Mixed Night Doubles tournaments. His fun interviews, with tough and often hilarious questions, with the players after their matches, are enjoyed by the players and spectators alike.

When he's not on the tennis court, Jared enjoys surfing, golf, volleyball, and taking advantage of all that Kailua and Hawaii has to offer. Hawaii has been home to Jared since 2003 and there is no other place that he would rather be!  HERE is a youtube video that explains it all!

As a Duck, she. received her highest ITA ranking of #43 in singles and #10 in doubles. She won Oregon’s first-ever ITA Northwest Regional doubles championship. She qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship Tournament in 2018, the first time for a Duck since 2006. She helped the team get the program’s first ever win against UCLA and USC and also get a program record team ranking of #17. Along with this, she helped her team qualify for the NCAA tournament for the first time in ten years, then win their first round in the NCAA tournament the next year. During her time at Oregon, she received the ITA Senior Player of the Year for the northwest region award, two all-Pac-12 second team and three Pac-12 All-Academic second team honors, and two Pac-12 player of the week recognitions. As of right now, Alyssa does not really know what her future plans are. While teaching at the racquet club, she is training hard on the court in order to play on the pro circuit. In July 2018, she got the opportunity to play her first pro tournament, the $60k in Honolulu, where she won her first professional singles and doubles match in front of friends and family. She has a current WTA doubles ranking #800.

Alyssa’s biggest passion outside of tennis is makeup. Her other hobbies include fishing, hiking, shopping, and eating on her free time.

Hi, I’m Bianca!

I’m from Sweden and I just graduated from HPU with a bachelor in business administration and marketing while playing for the women’s tennis team. I have played tennis since I was 3 years old and coached since I was 14. During this time I taught everything from 2 year olds to 85 year olds on how to hit a perfect forehand!

Hobbies of mine includes the beach, golf, eating amazing food and enjoying everything that beautiful Hawaii has to offer!

Aloha, my name is Kaylee! I am originally from Wisconsin and began playing tennis at the age of 4. Tennis quickly became my favorite activity and I have loved it ever since! In high school, I lettered as an incoming freshman, was voted team MVP 3 years in a row, and qualified for the 2013 Wisconsin State tennis tournament. I continued my tennis journey into college playing at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. At CU, I played both #2 doubles and #3 singles. I was voted Rookie of the Year in 2015 and helped make Team Conference in 2016. I have been coaching for 4 years and have enjoyed sharing my experiences with younger athletes. Tennis a sport that can teach many lessons on and off the court, and I look forward to the many years of teaching ahead of me.
