I’ve been living right behind court 6 for the past 16 years. I actually bought my home because of KRC night doubles. It was a for sale by owner and i happened to park my car there to be to the tournament. So I have the club to thank for this great home. I also am so grateful to have had my son Marcel junior grow up at KRC. There are so many great memories my family has here. And we still are making them! So now it’s time to give back and help with making decisions for the future of this great club. Thank you for your consideration:)
Aloha! I have been a member of KRC (along with my husband Dave Pascua) since 2011. We came to KRC (after a 20 year tennis hiatus for me) looking for a way to meet new friends while finding a way to stay physically active, as both of us have “desk jobs”. The club has been invaluable, as I now have very dear friends all over the country from KRC, and continue to make more every year! I typically captain anywhere between 3 and 6 league teams (women, mixed, Ekolu and WTT) a year, as I believe everyone should to have a team to play on if they want to! I am a registered professional Architect with a backgound in both electrical and civil engineering, and have had my own firm since 2006. Over the years, my attention to detail has led to my current roles doing 3rd Party Residential Plan Review here on Oahu and 3rd party building inspections in Maui Country (specifically the island of Lanai). Solving problems, utilizing good communication skills, integrating different points of view and making decisions while maintaining an atmosphere of fairness and cooperation are all key elements to my success both in my work and as a tennis captain. I am excited to see all the new faces and changing demographics at KRC as we attract younger members and families. As our club continues to grow and improve, I would be honored to be able to utilize my skills, both technical and interpersonal, to help guide the club in its improvement efforts over the next few years.
I’ve been a Kailua boy (Maunawili to be exact) for 49 of my 56 years alive. I joined KRC 5 years ago and I LOVE the people at the club. As you may also know, I LOVE humor and beauty in all it’s forms. As an artist I may not be experienced at some of the left brained accounting and business decisions that being a board member may require, and that is why I could be a healthy balance on the board. I’ve come to love the KRC family and will always speak the truth for the majority. I believe in the power of positivity! WINNAH! Did you expect to hear a joke? How do you keep a fool in suspense? I’ll tell you later!
I am interested in becoming a member of the Kailua Racquet Club (KRC) Board of Directors (BOD). I have been a member of KRC for approximately 30 years. I have been a sponsor for the “Men’s Night Doubles” tournament several times. I usually play at the Club once or twice a week with my wife “Jeab” who is a very capable 4.0 player; I rarely beat her. If I become a board member I will advocate for a shelter between courts 2 and 3, and accelerated reconstruction of courts that are clearly in need of help (such as #2).
I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I joined the Marine Corps when I was 19 and became a fighter pilot. I flew 200 combat missions in Vietnam before returning to be a flight instructor. When I got out of the Marine Corps I went to work for Continental Airlines. I transferred from Denver, Colorado to Honolulu in 1984 and never left. In 1992 I retired from Continental while flying as Captain on the B-747. I then flew for Japan Airlines for 5 years followed by 3 years at Japan Air System. I was hired by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) two weeks prior to “9/11”. I am currently an Aviation Safety Inspector involved with surveillance/certification of U.S. pilots, and surveillance of foreign air carriers. Outside of work I have been a reserve police officer (San Clemente Police Department), a Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for the Court of the first Circuit, and President of two different Home Owner Associations in Launani Valley (Mililani, Hawaii). I am also a Licensed Realtor and a certified Notary Public. I currently live in Kaneohe with my charming wife Jeab. I will appreciate your consideration for me as a prospective member of the KRC BOD.
Aloha and thank you to the nomination committee for giving me the opportunity to run for the Board of Directors at the Kailua Racquet Club. My name is Cathy Fukada, my Husband (Brian) and I have been a member of the racquet club since 1989, we joined when our eldest daughter was 3-years-old and we had two more girls, we joined the club because it was family place which we have made lifetime friends. Our family has been involved in the club in many ways - playing, tennis, swimming and helping out with various club activities. As a family we have helped Run Men’s Night Doubles for many years when the board ran it through committees, I was a Chair of the grounds committee once, Brian and I cooked for Workers Party and picnic working with The Famous Chuck Brewer. Currently I have been a captain of a 4.0 women’s team (18’s, 40’s and 55’s) and played on other teams when asked so I am down at the l club 3 or 4 times a week.
Currently I work full time for the Department of Education in the Technology division working on the Special Education Program and that I have done for the past 10 year and before that I was a Special Education Teacher at Farrington High School for 11 years and also worked for the USTA- Hawaii section as their Administrative Assistant to the director – there I helped to run tournaments, sectionals and helped to create the annual yearbook. I am looking to give back to the club by working on the board helping to guide the club down a path that empowers all players – from the top players down to the beginners, keeping the Family atmosphere with Life-Long Friendships. I would like to see the club take the next step to being Community staple. I look forward to having an opportunity to serve the members.
I reside in Kailua and am in my 5th year living in Hawaii. I am married to Juliann Greene, and we have 4 children who are all regulars at KRC. Both Julie and I play league tennis and have enjoyed group classes, strategy sessions and private lessons. I am an old school volleyball player and have been dedicated to turning my volleyball skills into a decent tennis game. We have enjoyed KRC and the friendships we have found there. My willingness to serve on the KRC Board correlates directly with my interest in helping make KRC even better and providing the best value possible to its owners/members. I have especially enjoyed seeing so many families become members of KRC over the past few years. It seems like there is a nice balance within the various demographics of our member base. I am an entrepreneur at heart and have found success building my own companies. I have primarily served in CFO and other financial roles, but my work experience has covered the business spectrum from marketing to operations to administration, and in a variety of industries. I am a big believer in proper governance, regardless of how big or small the organization is. I have served on boards of private and publicly held companies. I believe firmly in representing the interests of all shareholders.

I would be honored to be a member of the Board of Directors. I believe that my financial and organization skills and previous Board experience along with my appreciation for KRC’s history can help into the future. I love tennis and use the Club often. I schedule a men’s group twice weekly and attend most events, volunteer at MND, have meals, enjoy the bar and play an occasional cribbage.. I was born in Oregon, attended school there and graduated from Oregon State University. I worked in public accounting, then spent 22 years as CFO and COO and Board member for the largest sporting goods store in Oregon. I served our condo association as a board member and president. I am retired and have the time and energy to be an active board member and would appreciate your vote.
Most of you know me but some you might not. I'm originally from Philadelphia proper. I moved to Hawai'i in 2000 and lived on the North Shore for about a year with my (then wife) and two kids, Nainoa (22) and Malialani (19). My kids are part Hawaiian. We all moved to Kailua in 2001 where we live now. I was one of the first stay-at-home dads that I knew. I was a "mister mom" from way back and loved every moment of it!! I was a teaching pro in philly before we moved and I wanted to work again so I got a part time job teaching tennis right here at the Kailua Racquet Club through 2008. And for a short time I owned and operated the Tennis Hut here at KRC, both ventures were rewarding and some of the funnest times of my life. My son Nainoa is at UH, and my daughter Malia is at Columbia University. Both are thriving and happy.
In 2003 I started a home inspection company, Architech Inspection Systems, which over the years has grown and flourished to one of the top inspection companies in Hawaii. I have been on several boards, most recently immediate past president of the local chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Before that, several roles in ASHI and several roles as a board member of the National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI). I was very involved with my kids upbringing and education including as a board member of their PTA's and team parent for volleyball and tennis. In another life I ran bars and restaurants. I have an affable style and get along well with most everyone. I tend to listen well and share thoughts after hearing everyone out. I like to stay on task and try not to get distracted by side thoughts. I enjoy being a member of the Kailua Racquet Club and friends with so many of you for so long, that quite frankly it's my second home and family. I'm honored and humbled to be considered for the board and will do my utmost to help move the club forward and keep the friendly warm and home-like atmosphere we all love.
